Pastor’s Message

A message from  Pastor Steve Westbrook

In 2013, St. John’s Evangelical United Church of Christ will celebrate 175 years of sharing God’s love with people all over St. Louis and beyond. With a rich heritage of worship and community life and the legacy of helping to establish several educational and health and human service institutions here in St. Louis, the people of St. John’s have made life better for countless thousands over many generations.

We are excited at St. John’s…excited to see what will be revealed to us about how we can better serve others, excited to meet new people who will join us on this journey and excited to be surprised by how we will grow in faith, hope and love as we reach out to all people both near and far away with unconditional love and grace.

Our faith is 2000 years old. Our thinking is not!

Our church is 178 years old. Our ministry is for today!

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey,
you are welcome here!

Jesus did not reject people. Neither do we!

We are open. You are welcome!

I hope that if you are looking for a church community to call your spiritual home, you will join us one Sunday morning for worship. Also, please know that if there is some way that I or our church can be a source of strength and encouragement to you in life’s journey, we want to be. Don’t hesitate to call on me or us if we can help in any way. In the meantime, we hope that our path will cross with yours and we pray for help in continuing to live out Jesus’ mission to love God with all our hearts and minds and to love
our neighbors as much and more as we love ourselves.

Many blessings of love, joy, persistence, grace, strength
and peace to you and your family!
